Primary Signet-ring cell carcinoma (Linitus Plastica) of the colon and rectum is a rare form of adenocarcinoma of the large intestine and has been reported to have an extremely poor prognosis. We report a case of Primary Signet-ring cell carcinoma of the colorectum in a thirty one year old man presented in Surgical OPD of our hospital with chief complaints of persistent pain in abdomen and vomiting since two days. Since the prognosis of primary signet ring cell carcinoma (SRCC) is extremely poor (in view of more malignant behavior than ordinary colorectal carcinoma), early diagnosis and aggressive treatment strategy are necessary

    Get PDF
Aggressive angiomyxoma is a rare mesenchymal tumor occurring predominantly in the pelviperineal region. Authors present a case of a 70 years female presented with history of distention of lower abdomen with recurrent pain since 6 months. On clinical examination there was suspicion of fibroid. On USG it was reported as huge fleshy, soft tissue mass measuring 20x10x9 cm in lower abdominal flanks and pelvis with vascular pedicle attached to right parametrium. Pan-hysterectomy was performed. Right broad ligament showed mass measuring 18.5x10x6 cm. On histopathological examination it was diagnosed as a case of Aggressive angiomyxoma of broad ligament. We are presenting this case for its extreme rarity, clinicohisto-pathological and radiological findings

Background: Teratomas are belonging to a group of germ cell tumors. It is also referred to as dermoid cyst. Teratomas are most common germ cell tumor of the ovary. Teratomas are composed of various histological types. In this article we are presenting various morphological patterns, its clinical manifestation and its clinical significance. Methods: This is prospective study for a period of 3 years from March 2016 to February 2019 at tertiary care hospital. It consists of total evaluation of 82 cases of ovarian lesions which were surgically excised for clinically or radiologically suspected of ovarian neoplasm. Results: A total of 82 cases of ovarian specimen were included out of which 18 cases were of ovarian teratoma. In these 17 cases were benign teratomas, 1 case of immature teratoma. All the cases of mature teratoma were predominantly of cystic type with focal solid areas. Right sided ovary was involved in44.5% cases while left sided in 55.5% cases. The tumor size ranges from 2.5 cm to 20.8 cms. The age range in this study was from 20 to 60 year. The common age observed for ovarian teratoma was in group of 31-40 years, having 6 cases. The clinically most of cases were asymptomatic or presented with unexplained abdominal pain or palpable mass. USG finding in most of cases were diffuse or partial echogenic mass lesion with cystic nature and echogenic bands. Conclusions: In our study showed mature cystic teratoma is the most common type of ovarian teratomas. The immature and monodermal types are rare. The histopathological examination plays important role in final diagnosis   and patient management

The lipomatous tumors are very rare benign neoplasms of the uterus. Lipoleiomyoma is a benign tumor which is variant of leiomyoma. It has similar clinical course and presentation like uterine leiomyoma and is typically found in postmenopausal women. Authors report a case of 45 years female presented with a complaint of increased frequency of menstrual cycles and generalized weakness since 5- 6 months. On ultrasonography abdomen - pelvis a single large lobulated hyperechoic mass was noted in the fundal myometrium measuring 5 x 4.6 cm. The finding was suggestive of fibroid uterus. On histopathological examination showed variable proportions of lobules of mature adipocytes and interlacing bundles of benign smooth muscle cells which was diagnostic of lipoleiomyoma. Authors are presenting this case for its rarity, clinical presentation, imaging and histopathological finding with differential diagnosis

Effect of mutagens on Mitotic Index and mitotic aberrations in M1 generations of Lablab purpureus (L.) Sweet

    Get PDF
In the present investigation the effect of the different Chemical and Physical mutagens like EMS, Gamma rays and combination of both EMS and Gamma rays concentration  and doses were studied for the mitotic index and mitotic abnormalities in the M1generation . The Mitotic index is decreased with the increased in the concentration and doses of the mutagens. All the three mutagenic treatments EMS, Gamma rays and combination treatment induced the reduction in mitotic index. The maximum induction of mitotic index is observed in EMS followed by Combination and Gamma rays radiation. The different mitotic abnormalities like micronuclei, mis-orientation, stickiness, precocious movements, multiple bridges. The percentage of the mitotic abnormalities was increased with the increases in the dose or concentration of the mutagenic treatments. The highest percentage of the mitotic abnormalities was observed at EMS treatments followed by the Gamma rays and Combination treatments

Heterogeneous Video Transcoder for H.264/AVC to HEVC

    Get PDF
The new video coding standard, High Efficiency Video Coding, was developed to succeed the current standard, H.264/Advance Video Coding. However, there is a lot of legacy content encoded with H.264. So the new efficient method is proposed for transcoding the H.264 encoded video into high efficiency video coding format. In proposed method, two stages are implemented. In training stage, transcoding is done using SSD method and different coding parameters or features are extracted from incoming H.264. In transcoding stage, the best mode of outgoing coding unit partitions are decided by calculating threshold value and optimum weight using extracted features. Then it is evaluated by doing experiments on different videos. DOI: 10.17762/ijritcc2321-8169.150615

Background: Epilepsy is defined as the primary disorder of the brain due to an abnormal and excessive neuronal activity involving cerebral grey matter, resulting in a seizure. Objective: The objective was to do a clinical evaluation of Panchagavya ghrita in Bal apasmara (epilepsy in paediatric age group).Materials and Methods: It is a randomized open interventional parallel efficacy drug trial. A total number of 60 patients were selected from the age group of 4 years to 16 years of age. All the patients were recently diagnosed with Idiopathic type of epilepsy and were not on any kind of medication, before the start of the study. The selected patients were randomly divided into two groups – The patients in Group I (n = 30) were given Panchagavya ghrita and patients in Group II (n = 30) were kept on Tab. Tegretol for the study. Both the groups were studied for 12 months to see the efficacy of the drug. Results: Group I showed Statistically significant results in Frequency of convulsions, Duration of convulsion and Smritinasha (Amnesia). Where as in Group II highly significant results were observed in Frequency of convulsions and duration of convulsion; but not   significant results were observed in Smritinasha (Amnesia). Conclusion: Panchagavya ghrita has shown promising results in the management of Bal - apasmara (Epilepsy in paediatric age group) without any complications and side-effects

Background: Grudhrasi (Sciatica) is one of the eighty Vatavyadhi mentioned in Ayurvedic Samhitas, which is caused by aggravated Vatadosha. This is characterized by Ruja (pain) in the waist, back, thigh, knee and calf regions along the course of Sciatic nerve. There are many treatment modalities available in Ayurveda and Modern medical science. They have some or the other shortcomings and drawbacks. Objectives: To evaluate the efficacy of Bhujangasana with Katibasti over only Katibasti.Materials and Methods: It is a randomized open interventional parallel efficacy drug trial. A total number of  40 patients were selected from OPD. All the patients were having classical presentation of Grudhrasi and SLR test positive between 300 and 700. The selected were randomly divided in to two groups, namely, Group A (study group n = 20) and Group B (control group n = 20). Group A was given Bhujangasana with Katibasti and Group B was given Katibasti only. The data were collected and observations were made before the treatment, on 8th day, 15th day and on 22nd day of the treatment. The data obtained from the result were subjected for statistical analysis and conclusions were drawn. Results: In Group A, 85% patients were totally relieved of pain and 15% patients were reported to have moderate pain. In Group B, 55% patients reported total relief from pain and 25% had mild pain. In 90% cases SLR became negative in Group A, whereas in Group B 75% patients reported negative result in SLR test. Conclusion: Analysis of overall effect of treatment in the present study reveals that Bhujangasana with Katibasti was statistically significant compared to that of Katibasti
